“Replace Toner” Message; Won’t Print

The “Replace Toner” message is appearing on your printer, even after you replace the toner, preventing you from printing.

First, find the model of the printer (located on the front, next to the screen).

If your printer is a Brother MFC-736ON:

  1. Open the front panel of your Brother MFC-7360N or MFC-7860DW Multifunction printer.
  2. Press the Clear/Back button. A display message will then show “REPLACE DRUM? 1. Yes 2. No”.
  3. Do not type 1 or 2, this is not the command you should enter. Instead type *00 on the keypad and you should be rewarded with the word “accepted”.
  4. Close the front door. The toner counter is then reset.

If your printer is a Brother MFC-L2700DW or MFC-L2710DW:

  1. Open front door of printer (to reveal the cartridge mechanism) and Front Door Open will flash on the monitor. Good.
  2. Next, press STOP/EXIT and CLEAR at the SAME TIME (quick press)
  3. Immediately after, press CLEAR once again.
  4. A menu called RESET MENU will appear.
  5. Click the DOWN ARROW until you see TNR-STD
  6. Click OKAY
  7. Click UP ARROW To Confirm the reset.
